DHI Hair Transplant

What is DHI?

DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is a way of placing grafts. Each follicle is loaded into a DHI Choi pen, which opens the recipient channel and implants the graft in one motion. Because the pen sets depth, angle and direction as it implants, the hairline and the density are controlled by hand, graft by graft.

How the Choi pen works

The pen holds a single graft, opens the channel and places the follicle in the same movement. The graft spends less time outside the scalp, and each hair is placed at the angle planned for your hairline. Density is planned per cm² before the procedure starts.

DHI vs FUE

FUE describes how follicles are taken from the donor area. DHI describes how they are placed. In classic FUE the channels are opened first and the grafts are placed into them afterwards. With DHI the pen does both in one step. The two are not opposites: for a DHI procedure the grafts are taken with FUE-type punch extraction.

Where Robotic DHI fits in

At this clinic DHI is part of Robotic DHI, the patented system invented by Lütfi Keçici. Grafts are kept in a medical-grade +4°C solution inside the device from extraction until implantation, and each graft is placed by hand with the Choi pen. Clinic-documented graft survival is 98%+ when the full protocol is followed.

Recovery with Robotic DHI

With Robotic DHI most patients return to social life in about 11 days, and the usual restrictions end after about 3 weeks. After sapphire FUE they last a couple of months. Smaller 0.8 mm channels, instead of 1.4 mm, make the difference.

What affects the cost of DHI

There is no fixed price, because every plan starts with your own scalp. The number of grafts you need, the size of the area, your donor capacity and the density planned per cm² all shape the final cost. Your free analysis ends with a written plan that includes the recommended technique, an estimated graft count and a review of risks.

Answer first

What should patients know before choosing DHI Hair Transplant?

Before choosing DHI Hair Transplant, the most important factors are candidacy, donor suitability, angle planning, tissue handling, and follow-up. At Lütfi Keçici's Istanbul clinic, each treatment starts with a medical review and cm²-based density plan rather than a fixed graft promise. The goal is to match the restoration area with the patient's anatomy, donor capacity, hair characteristics, and natural growth direction. Robotic DHI and DHI Choi placement are used to reduce out-of-body time, support graft preservation, and place follicles at controlled angles. Results still vary by healing, existing hair, skin response, aftercare, and the safe number of grafts available. Patients should compare real cases, understand the recovery timeline, and ask which technique fits their expectations before booking. A free analysis is the first step toward a written plan, technique recommendation, graft estimate, and review of risks.

How the Procedure Works

  1. 1

    Free Consultation & Hair Analysis

We begin with a full hair loss assessment: cm²-based density mapping, donor area evaluation, and a personalized graft plan. You receive a written procedure outline before making any commitment.

  2. 2

    Customized Procedure Design

Your hairline or restoration area is designed with golden ratio proportions calibrated to your facial geometry, so each design is drawn from your own features.

  3. 3

    Follicle Extraction

Follicles are extracted individually using 0.6–0.7 mm Micro-FUE punches. Each graft is immediately transferred to the Robotic DHI device's integrated +4°C cooling chamber to minimize room-temperature exposure.

  4. 4

Graft Preservation in Robotic DHI System

Extracted grafts are stored in the +4°C preservation solution inside the robotic arm throughout the entire procedure. This protocol supports the clinic-documented 98%+ graft survival rate.

  5. 5

    Simultaneous Channel Opening & Implantation

The Choi pen opens the recipient channel and implants the graft in a single motion. Combined with 0.6–0.7 mm punches and cm² spacing, this avoids a linear donor scar and reduces visible tissue disruption.

  6. 6

    Post-Procedure Care & Follow-Up Protocol

You receive a written aftercare protocol and access to our 12-month follow-up program including PRP support sessions. Return to social life is typically possible within 10–11 days.

What is a DHI hair transplant?

DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) places each graft with a Choi pen that opens the channel and implants the follicle in one motion, so angle, direction and density are controlled by hand.

What is the difference between DHI and FUE?

FUE describes how follicles are taken from the donor area. DHI describes how they are placed. In classic FUE the channels are opened first and the grafts are placed afterwards. With DHI the pen opens the channel and places the graft in one step.

Do you offer DHI without the robotic device?

At this clinic DHI is part of the Robotic DHI technique invented by Lütfi Keçici. Patients receive DHI as Robotic DHI.
